Why West Nottingham?

With so many choices, boarding - day - private - public - big - little....why is West Nottingham right for you? Frankly, maybe it isn't...

If you're looking for a school in the city, we're not the right choice. If you want to be part of a large school with classrooms 20 or 30 students, please look elsewhere. But if you think a small college setting with small classes, committed teachers and a tight-knit community sounds right, we hope you'll keep reading.

In a Nutshell...
An hour's drive from Baltimore & Philadelphia, West Nottingham Academy is a small school for boarding and day students in grades 9-12.  Our core mission is to help young men and women prepare for the academic, emotional and social challenges of college life. Our approach, encouraging results through hard work and dedication in a supportive and caring environment, remains true to our motto:  Nihil Sine Labore – Nothing Without Work.

Strong Academics
WNA’s provides a challenging college-preparatory curriculum with emphasis on providing greater individual attention. Our teacher/student ratio of 1/7 and small class sizes offer more opportunities to ask questions, get help and develop a deeper understanding of a subject. Click here to learn more.

Faculty Guidance
Our faculty members are passionate and talented teachers committed to helping each student achieve his or her full potential. They are also the advisors and coaches who assure that learning continues well beyond the classroom. To help make sure that no student ever gets forgotten or lost in the shuffle, every student begins his or her day by meeting with their faculty advisor to hear announcements, review homework or just say hello and see how things are going - a small difference that goes a long way. Meet some of our faculty members and students by clicking here .

College Counseling -The next step
Princeton Review courses, campus visits, submitting applications, or just discussing which school is right for your son or daughter – we will help you every step of the way. Click here for more information, including a list of recent college acceptances.

College-Prep Plus  - Life at WNA
Preparing for college is about hitting the books, but it’s also about knowing what life will be like once you get there. With students from all around the world, structured study halls to help develop good study habits and a campus that looks more like a small college, life at WNA will teach your son or daughter the skills they’ll need to successfully manage life in college and beyond.

Boarding School for Day Students?
Absolutely!
WNA offers many programs and activities during the week and on weekends for all students.  Trips to museums, lacrosse matches, movie theatres and more - we don’t close once the school day ends. Click for more about our Athletic , Culture-Credit and Service-Learning programs.

History & Tradition
The history of West Nottingham is the history of our region and nation.  Founded in 1744 by the Rev. Samuel Finley (later 4th president of Princeton University), the little school that started in a log cabin educated some of our founding fathers, including Benjamin Rush and Richard Stockton - both signers of The Declaration of Independence. Click for more on our history. More recent alums include Brookings Institution founder, Robert S. Brookings; world-renowned painter, Eric Fischl; decorated WWII hero, Richard R. Hallock; and NBA basketball player, Josh Boone.

Announcing: THE HERITAGE FUND
A innovative program designed as a long-term bridge for families who are interested in independent education for their sons and daughters but thought it out of reach. A program in addition to the school's traditional need-based financial aid program, THE FUND can cover up to 40% of a student's tuition for four years at the Academy.  An exciting new program at exactly the right time. Learn more here.

Military Families - Welcome!
Not only do we have students who are from military backgrounds, but we have several faculty members who are recently removed from active duty, retired, or from military families.  The sacrifice it takes to raise a family with some semblance of consistency is difficult for civilian families, let alone those with ties to military service.  The ability to provide a static, stable environment for students not only makes for a better educational experience, it provides your family piece of mind during the evolving military deployment.

Choosing Your School - Finding the right fit.
Of course a brochure or web site can only tell you so much. The true nature of any school can be seen and heard in the faces and words of its students and teachers. We invite you to join us for an Open House to meet members of our community and tour the campus. Additionally, a shadow day is a great way for your son or daughter to “test drive” West Nottingham for a day with a current student and see what it’s really like here. We look forward to your visit.
