The application process at West Nottingham Academy

INQUIRE:  The first and important step in the admission process.  Please complete the inquiry form located, easily accessible from every page on this website.  If you prefer, please do not hesitate to call us, as we happy to learn of your interest through a conversation.  Once we receive your inquiry, we will begin the communication process with an information packet, an email, and a call from one of our admission team members.

APPLY: If you have completed an online inquiry, remember your password! Once you begin the application process, your information from the inquiry will feed into the application and speed the process.  We'll need to see three recommendations from your current school, as well as current grades, any available testing, and a transcript.   If we receive your application by January 31st, you can look forward to receiving an admission decision on March 10th.  Applications received after January 31st will be processed, but will be considered on a space-available basis.  While we prefer all applications to be completed online, please let us know if you prefer a paper version,  or you can download a paper copy by clicking here. Keep in mind that we also accept the TABS or SSATB Common Applications.  The non-refundable application fee can be paid by credit card, or by check mailed to the admission office.

SCHEDULE A CAMPUS VISIT OR SKYPE INTERVIEW:  We welcome you to campus!  Contact the admission team by phone or email to secure a campus visit (interviews are scheduled school days, Monday - Friday at either 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM.)  Prepare to spend close to 3 hours on campus, as you will be meeting students, faculty and administrators during your time with us.  Additionally, you will have a student-led tour of camus and interview with the admission team.  If a campus visit is not possible, please call or email to arrange for a SKYPE interview.

STUDENT SHADOW DAY - Optional  Every prospective student has the option of visiting our campus for a shadow day with a present WNA student. This is an opportunity for you to go to classes, meet faculty and students, and enjoy a full school day.  A shadow day can be scheduled once we have received a completed application.

REGISTER FOR THE SSAT:  While not required, we do suggest domestic students take the SSAT (www.ssat.org).  Please remember to have your scores sent directly to West Nottingham Academy.

CHESAPEAKE LEARNING CENTER:  Many families have a keen interest in taking advantage of our reknown learning support program.  All applicants to this program should submit the most recent educational testing along with your application.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS:  All students whose primary language is not English, or who plan to enroll in our ESL program, are required to take the TOEFL or the SSAT.

ADMISSION DECISION: Once all of the above items are complete, the application is finished and we can move forward with the decision process. Our admissions team makes decisions based on the application, previous school records, testing, the interview, and the teacher recommendations. Admittance decisions are made by March 10th and then on a rolling basis as space in the requested grade is available.

FINANCIAL AID: Some families may choose to apply for financial aid. WNA offers traditional need-based financial aid.  Candidates must complete an application through the National Association of Independent Schools - (www.sss.nais.org)
