A Day at West Nottingham

Here is what a typical school day at the Academy looks like:

7:00 - 7:45 - Breakfast. Fuel up for the day with cereal, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, bagels, juice, and more. Or, if you're not a morning person, sleep in a few extra minutes, grab a granola bar, and sprint to homeroom – it’s completely up to you.

8:00 - Classes Begin. Most classes are held in Finley-Bathon, the main academic building. You'll have four morning classes, with a short break in the middle so you can grab a snack, catch up with a friend, or finish that last homework assignment.

9:15 - 10:15 - Community Time!  Meet with advisors or with the entire community.

12:20 - 1:15 - Lunch. Head to the dining room for some lunch and a little social time. Then, it’s back to class.

2:20 - 3:00 - On Tuesdays and Fridays there is extra community time - perfect for club meetings, advisor meetings, and musical rehearsals!

3:00 - The Academic Day Ends.

2:40 - 3:15 - Time for extra help and co-curricular activities.

3:15 - 5:30 - Athletics and Activities.  Whether you have experience or not, join one of our competitive athletic programs!

5:30 - 6:00 - Some day students get picked up & head home. Boarders have free time to relax after a busy day, listen to music, watch TV, or just hang out with friends.

5:45 - 6:45 - Dinner. More time to catch up with friends and relax before study hall.

7:30 - Study Hall Begins. Each student is assigned to one of two study halls: In-Dorm or Structured.

9:30 - Study Hall Ends. Lots of kids use this next block of time to head to our Student Lounge and Canteen to socialize, play a game of pool, watch TV, or grab a late-night snack. Just don’t lose track of time; your prefects will be waiting to check you back into the dorm at 10:00!

10:00 - In Dorm. You’re in for the night. Watch some TV, make phone calls, talk with friends - you get the picture.

10:30 - In Room. By now, you’ve showered, brushed teeth and flossed (you flossed, right?). You’re getting ready for bed, or maybe getting your books together for the next day..if you’re one of those super-organized types.

10:45 - Lights Out. After a busy day, it’s time to sleep. Occasionally, students may get permission for “late lights” to complete homework. Seniors may stay up until 11 p.m. Don't worry, though, the schedule changes on weekends. Check-in is usually 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, with no lights out (as long as you keep it fairly quiet, OK?).
