More than 70 percent of faculty and their families live on campus, which includes utilities and all regular meals on campus. Resident and non-resident employees are expected to participate in the life of the school, from academic-day activities to after-school opportunities, athletics, and student life events.

Faculty members carry, on average, a load of five classes, two co-curricular seasons, and residential dorm duty.  All positions offer a competitive salary comparable with peer schools and commensurate with experience and education, as well as benefits (major medical insurance, dental and vision, Aspire Financial Services, disability insurance, and life insurance). Staff Positions

HVAC Technician

HVAC (Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning)/Maintenance technician is primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of West Nottingham Academy’s HVAC systems.

We are looking to hire a detail-oriented HVAC Technician to install, maintain and repair HVAC systems and to assist with daily Maintenance needs of the department. 

HVAC TECHNICIAN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment 
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, including oil and gas boilers, and electrically operated air-conditioning equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs; service and repair evaporative coolers.
  • Repair or replace defective parts in units and equipment and their controls, including thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves, and automatic gas valves.
  • Perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation and alteration of HVAC equipment, components, timers, motors and wiring systems as needed; connect motors to control panels.
  • Test and examine boiler operations, observing meter and pressure gauges; adjust burner combustion.
  • Lubricate heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air-conditioning motors, pumps, fans, and other equipment.
  • Install and calibrate systems; install copper tubing and repair pipes and tubing as necessary; test joints and insulate pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems; flush boilers, descale tubing; rebuild hot water heating pumps.
  • Install, rebuild, replace or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary.
  • Knowledgeable in sheet metal, AC duct fabrication and assembly.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings.
  • Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment when required.
  • Plans, recommends, and carries out an approved program on scheduled maintenance.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

PREREQUISITES:
  • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
  • 5+ year experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
  • Must have CFC certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
  • Working knowledge of boiler systems.
  • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
  • Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds.
